Wat ga jij doen?
The role is a senior role reporting into the CFO for the Benelux region. The tax manager is responsible for leading and managing the tax affairs in the Netherlands Belgium and Luxembourg. Tax areas of responsibility include tax compliance, tax controllership, transfer pricing and planning across corporate income tax, VAT and financial reporting locally and to the group headquarters in Ireland. The person will work as part of the finance team located in the Netherlands and will also have a dotted line into the Group Tax Controller located at the headquarters in Dublin. The person will be required to develop effective working relationships with business financial controllers, group controllers, the external auditor and advisors. The person will also work with advisors to provide support to HR team on wage tax compliance. The management of an effective relationship with the tax authorities will be a critical part of the role.
This role offers opportunities to develop and work within a global multinational as part of a wider global tax organization with tax colleagues based in the Netherlands, Ireland, Europe and the United States.
- Responsible for tax planning, tax compliance and controls and tax financial reporting locally and to group;
- Working directly with the external auditors to agree tax provisioning and proper assessment of tax risk provisions within a US GAAP environment (Sarbox compliance processes). This will involve judgement and analysis. US GAAP training will be provided;
- Responsible for tax risk management and the management of tax audits for corporate income tax, transfer pricing and VAT;
- Working closely with business controllers to support across all tax categories but with responsibility to ensure theeffective internal controls to ensure tax compliance and controllership;
- Further develop and maintain the Tax Control Framework as part of the integration of Smurfit Westrock in the Netherlands;
- Effective tax rate and cash tax management with responsibility for tax projections and the goal to effectively manage book tax and cash tax.
- Responsible for the regional transfer pricing, country-by-country reporting and Pillar Two.
- Working with advisors to manage tax compliance and corporate income tax returns. Managing the tax relationship with tax authorities.
- Provide international corporate income tax advice for the Dutch entities and its international subsidiaries including earnings repatriation.
- Develop, engage and manage the Assistant Tax Manager and to partner with the European tax team located inNetherlands and Ireland.
Ben jij wie wij zoeken?
- University degree in Dutch Tax law or preferably Dutch Tax Economics.
- 7-10 years’ experience within a leading tax & accounting firms and /or with another multinational.
- Completely up to date knowledge of Dutch tax laws.
- Pro-active attitude and strong communication abilities. A team player.
- Ability to act within different work environments and levels within the organization.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to translate technical knowledge into practical solutions.
- Knowledge of HFM, Smartview or SAP is a benefit but training will be provided.
- Financial reporting experience is a benefit. US GAAP training will be provided.
- Excellent MS Office skills, especially Excel.
- Fluent in Dutch & English, written and oral.
